About Career Stats Data
Career Stats is a feature on many UW Professional & Continuing Education (UWPCE) certificate and specialization program webpages. Its purpose is to share alumni outcomes and job demand for those considering a UWPCE program to advance their careers.
Career Stats data comes from Lightcast, a labor market analytics company that uses a variety of sources, including the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Occupational Informational Network (O*NET). We update Career Stats once a year with the latest data from Lightcast.
Certificate Program Stats
Certificate program pages can display two to four stats. The stats can be any combination of the below, depending on data availability.
- % Alumni working in field
- Top or sample employers
- Projected job growth for <occupation>
- Median salary for <occupation>
Lightcast derives Alumni working in field and Top employers or Sample employers by matching UWPCE student data to career profiles on sites like LinkedIn. Top employers lists organizations that employ multiple alumni of the program, while Sample employers is a curated list of employers with at least one alum. The data is limited to students who graduated between 2017 and 2024.
Projected job growth gives Lightcast's projected 10-year job growth for the O*NET occupation most closely related to the UWPCE program, if there is one. Because O*NET occupations are broad, many related job titles may fall under a single occupation. Median salary lists the annual median salary for the occupation in a recent year. Program alumni salaries may vary.
Projected job growth and Median salary stats are for Washington state, the location where many UWPCE students live and work.

Specialization Stats
- Projected growth in U.S. demand for <skill>
Specialization programs focus on in-demand, specialized skills, and Career Stats for specializations highlight Lightcast’s projected growth in U.S. demand for top skills covered in the program’s curriculum.
